National Apprenticeship Week 2022Posted on Feb 07, 2022
This week Penny Post is supporting National Apprenticeship Week, a week-long celebration of apprenticeships. The theme for this year is ‘build the future’, one that we embrace, and we’re proud to invest in our apprentices. Over the past five years we have supported five apprentices, and we welcomed our sixth apprentice, Chyna, at the start of this year.
Our first two apprentices, Jaspreet Kaur and Hannah Copson, were recruited in 2017, and have gone on to become Chief Operations Officer and Customer Service Team Leader respectively.
Lewis Price who joined us in 2018 completed his apprenticeship and is now part of our Customer Service Team. Like Jas and Hannah, Lewis was selected for the CU Futures programme in 2020, the young professionals’ development programme delivered in partnership by ABCUL and the Credit Union Foundation, which he completed entirely remotely, including a virtual graduation, due to the pandemic.
Tanya Aspbury joined us in August 2019 and has recently completed her apprenticeship. She is now a member of our Customer Service Team.
In April 2021 we welcomed our fifth apprentice Raven Chahal, and our latest recruit Chyna, our 6th Apprentice, joined us at the start of this year.
Take a few moments to watch this video, celebrating our 6 former and current apprentices!
Our apprentices have contributed to raising Penny Post’s profile, both regionally and nationally. For the second year running, Penny Post was awarded ‘Highly Commended‘ at the West Midlands Regional Finals in the 2021 National Apprenticeship Awards.
In 2021, Jas was shortlisted for Exceptional Employee in the Black Country Chamber Awards, and in 2020, she won the national Tracy Slane Award, which is awarded to a young person who has made an outstanding contribution to their credit union and/or to the wider movement. Jas also sits on the ABCUL Young Professionals Network Steering Committee.
All our apprentices have brought a pleasing vibrancy to Penny Post and helped us think ‘younger’. Their enthusiasm, outlook, hard work and positivity are key to Penny Post’s success in recent years and will continue to be an important part of our future.
Jas, Hannah, Lewis, Tanya, Ravan & Chyna, we’re so proud of you!
