Looking back on 2023Posted on Dec 22, 2023
As another year ends, we take time to look back on 2023… another busy year for the Penny Post Group.
We had a great start to the New Year with lucky Penny Post member, David Wadge from Cirencester, winning £1,000 in January’s PrizeSaver Super Draw! To date 21 Penny Post members have been lucky PrizeSaver winners, sharing £11,570 in prizes!
On the 1st February we celebrated the 1st anniversary of the Penny Post Group – when Penny Post, and Voyager Alliance and Retail CU joined forces to benefit all our members – and reflected on improvements so far.
We were pleased to take part in National Apprenticeship Week in February, shared updates from some of our Apprentices and celebrated our first 2 apprentices, Jas and Hannah, now part of our leadership team.
Since launching in the Spring, our Swap & Save loan is saving members a colossal £11,754 every month! Remember, If you’ve got outstanding debts with one or more existing lenders, we could help tidy up your finances into 1 manageable repayment and save you money!
In March we also hosted our Annual General Meeting, welcoming members from across the UK to have their say as a shareholder, and hear about our achievements over the financial year, from 1st October 2021 to 30th September 2022.
Your feedback is important to us, so another big thank you to all those who took part in our annual Members Survey. Congratulations to Debbie, from Wolverhampton, the lucky winner of the Members Survey Prize Draw.
At the end of March we said goodbye to longtime employee, Louise Ingleby who retired after 23 years loyal service with Penny Post. Louise joined the credit union on the 1st May, 2000 and was officially the first employee!
In April, our loans got better! Our new straightforward loans with great rates from just 2.9% APR are easy to apply for with options for everyone. There really has never been a better time to borrow from Penny Post!
In May we supported Mental Health Awareness Week 2023 and shared some great tips on how to save money on your food shop.
June was Refer-a-Colleague month, and it was great to welcome lots of new members! We also welcomed Julie to the Penny Post team as our newest member of the Customer Services Team.
In July we mourned the loss of Penny Post Director and Treasurer, Ian Brookfield. Ian was a down to earth, positive, generous man, who played a big part in Penny Post’s journey and helped get us to where we are today.
In August we launched our Meeting Members series where we share real stories about how Penny Post has helped members just like you. We also made a donation to Mind to support Cannock Delivery Office’s ‘Captains Cup’ to help encourage mental health awareness.
For the 4th year running, Penny Post was ‘highly commended’ at the National Apprenticeship Awards for the West Midlands in October. What an achievement!
In October we joined credit unions around the world to celebrate International Credit Union Day. We shared stories of credit unions from around the world and teamed up with our international partner to offer members a chance to win a £100 giftcard in our Quick Quiz. Congratulations to Trevor, the lucky winner!
Penny Post was successful at 2 different Black Country Award Evenings in November. At the Ladder for the Black Country Apprenticeship Awards, Penny Post won the Small Business of the Year category. Meanwhile at the Black Country Business Awards, Jas was crowned Young Person of the Year and Penny Post was awarded ‘highly commended’ in the Small Employer of the Year category.
Finally, to December… Lucky member Ryan, from Keighley, took home the top prize of £5,000 in December’s PrizeSaver draw! We’re also giving members the chance to WIN £100 in our Cracking Christmas Quiz! Take part now!
As Christmas is a time to remember those less fortunate, the Penny Post team were pleased to partake in Christmas Jumper Day in aid of Save the Children and donated 37kg to The Well, Wolverhampton’s local foodbank to help local families this festive season.
2023, has been another busy year for Penny Post Group, only made possible by the support of you, our members. Thank you.
Wishing all our members, colleagues and friends a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
