Stay-At-Home LoansPosted on Jun 12, 2020
At the beginning of 2020, no one could have predicted the extraordinary times unfolding over the coming months. Those of us of a certain age will remember ‘Corona’ as a soft drink, and a ‘pandemic’ was something we’d perhaps learnt about in history! Instead, we were looking forward to summer holidays, celebrations, nights out, social events, time with extended families and so much more.
Much has changed over the last 4 months for so many. As key workers, the majority of Penny Post members are continuing their essential work, but all our lives have changed for the time being.
We want to help you make the best of these extraordinary times, whether continuing to help members, or as lockdown measures ease, with our stay-at-home loans to help with home improvements, decorating, garden projects, and so on.
Many DIY centres, building merchants & garden centres have been open for several weeks, and from Monday, 15th June, more shops are re-opening, subject to social distancing & other measures.
And … for those planning ahead, we’ve help members in recent weeks with loans for holidays next year and even a 2021 wedding!
Fancy a camping holiday?
The news that Campsites could be re-opening in July, as part of the government’s phase 3 plans, has been welcomed by many. Both the Camping & Caravanning Club and the Caravan & Motorhome Club are planning a phased re-opening of English campsites from 4th July. This is not yet definite and conditional on further progress being made.
Being in the fresh air, the physical space between pitches and with additional social distancing measures, a camping holiday could provide a much-needed break away from home. Campsite bookings for this summer are brisk, so don’t delay!
If you think a Penny Post loan, with bite-sized repayments, straight from you pay, could help you make the best of these extraordinary times, you can login to Online Banking and apply online at any time. And, for those members who aren’t able to apply for loans online, we’ve introduced a new telephone loan application – call us on 0333 332 1461 during opening hours.
Sadly, we can’t help everyone. As an ethical lender it’s important we only lend what a member can afford. We are lending money that is members’ savings, and it would be irresponsible to lend to those who are unable to repay. We are however taking a little extra time on loan decisions and asking for further supporting documents, where necessary, to make the right decision and help as many members as possible.
Stay safe everyone, and remember … we’re still here to help.
