Penny Post Office To 5K ChallengePosted on Feb 28, 2020
Ten team members from the Penny Post office have signed up for the challenge – a diverse group with varying degrees of fitness! Two of the team are avid runners; some are regular/not so regular gym goers; a couple attend weekly tap dancing classes; and one lists knitting as her usual form of exercise!!
It’s the end of February, and with 107 days until Race Day, competition in the office is already hotting-up!
Customer Services Supervisor, Jas, is well ahead in the fund raising stakes, having raised an impressive £240 already. However, it is Penny Post Customer Services Administrator, Lewis, who’s ahead when it comes to race training!
Describing himself as ‘very competitive’, Lewis is ‘on track’ with his impressive fitness regime – training 5 days a week, lots of cardio, keeping well hydrated and focusing on a good diet (but don’t look in his desk drawer!). Already comfortable with a sub-30 minute time, Lewis says he’s aiming for sub-25 minutes. So what’s motivating him? I quote, ‘to beat, Matt’, our CEO! No pressure, Matt!
Matt, a keen runner, and never one to shy away from a challenge, remains quietly confident, as does Finance Officer, Rod, another experienced runner!
So how are the others doing?
Finance Officer, Charissa is training weekly, and according to Isaiah, her personal trainer, she’s ‘quite good’! 7 year old, Isaiah, is taking his role seriously, and has high hopes for his Mum’s performance!
Another team member has also recruited a personal trainer, although for Finance Officer, Eileen, her trainer is of the 4-legged variety! Tim has noticed his daily walks are a little faster every day!
Penny Post Apprentice, Tanya, is also training hard – in her bedroom, in PJs – whilst waiting for better weather!
Customer Services Administrator, Nicola, has her outfit sorted, and her new trainers have had one outing to date! Like Tanya, Nicola’s now waiting for better weather!
So what of Business Development Officer, Helen, and Customer Services Officer, Vera? Well both are building strength and focus …. whilst relaxing on annual leave!
Collectively we want to raise as much as we can for Cancer Research UK as unfortunately, we have either been or know someone who has been affected by cancer. If you are able to make a donation, no matter how small, please visit our Cancer Research Fundraising page here.
Thank you in anticipation of your support, and look out for our next training update!
