Catch Up With Lewis
Posted on Nov 25, 2020In May this year, we were thrilled when Penny Post Customer Services Administrator, Lewis Price, was selected for the CU Futures programme.
Now 6 months into his CU Futures programme, we catch up with Lewis to hear how he’s getting on.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Lewis’ learning experience is very different to Hannah’s experience last year, but its great to hear remote working, online learning and Zoom meetings haven’t changed Lewis’ humour!
“2020 has truly been a challenging time for us all.
My Journey has been a rollercoaster ride, from having longer to make my top half presentable for Zoom meetings because of having little to no travel time (from the bedroom to the kitchen). I’m missing the face to face office liveliness we used to have, the daily interactions and Andrea’s cakes! But being and staying safe is paramount so it’s worth the sacrifice.
There was however a really lovely moment where I realised that this current climate has actually gifted me something. I recently celebrated my 21st birthday albeit in very strange circumstances. My CU Futures group greeted me with a birthday zoom meeting on the day as well as a birthday sing song and a lovely surprise gift through the post! Whilst these current times may not be so great, I have been given the opportunity to make some great friends!
Penny Post was also awarded ‘Highly Commended’ at the National Apprenticeship Awards 2020 earlier this month. As a former apprentice this makes me so proud as Penny Post has always supported me and continues to give me many opportunities to develop! The times may be challenging but I have found that there is always something to be grateful for, and learn – I have always had an interest in IT and technology and now more than ever we are seeing things become more online based, which I find very exciting.
With the support of my friends, family and colleagues, I have been able to stay safe and try and make the most of the opportunities which have arisen due to the current pandemic. I am grateful for all of the key workers who have helped keep everything running, especially our members – Thank you!
Now, I am looking forward to completing the CU Futures course and graduating with my newfound friends!”
Keep up the great work Lewis, we’re so proud of you!
