Owned by members and run for the benefit of members, our members are at the heart of everything we do. We love Meeting Members and sharing their stories, and here we meet loyal Penny Post member, Lee!

Having just woken from a nightshift when we caught up with him, Lee said he’s been working at Royal Mail Warrington Mail Centre for 25 years. Lee joined Penny Post through his employer over 13 years ago, and now he’s encouraging his colleagues to join too!

How has Penny Post helped you?

“I save each pay day to take the pressure out of paying for my holidays. Every year I travel to Southeast Asia, my little piece of paradise. It’s so convenient, I don’t even need to think about it because the savings are just taken from my wages. Then, when the time comes, I can withdraw my savings. It’s so easy! No complaints from me!”

Touch and go…

Back in 2020, Lee was enjoying his holiday in Asia when COVID was beginning to spread rapidly. Flights back to the UK were being cancelled and those which still had seats available were changing thousands! Lee decided to call Penny Post. He emailed and stressed the urgency of his situation, and we were able to process a loan and get the money to his bank account within 1 hour and 40 minutes!

Do you have any future plans?

“I’m heading back to Asia, near the Cambodian border, later this year, so I’m going to withdraw some of my savings which I have built up over the past year! Saving with Penny Post stops me worrying about where I’m going to find my holidays spending money from, because I know my savings are there waiting for me! I really look forward to my holiday every year so saving straight from my pay makes it so easy!”
